Daegu Airport Opens Vladivostok Service

The city of Daegu and Tway Airlines held a ceremony celebrating the opening of a flight path from Daegu to Vladivostok, Russia.


The ceremony marks the first time flights from Daegu to Russia will be available. In addition, Daegu International Airport will now offer 19 kinds of flights (3 domestic and 16 international) for customers. In Korea, Vladivostok’s service is only available at three airports including Incheon and Gimhae.

 

Starting from April 6, flights to Vladivostok will be available three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

Starting from April 6, flights to Vladivostok will be available three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Customers will fly on a Boeing 737-800 that is equipped with 189 seats. The average travel time from Daegu to Vladivostok is roughly 3 hours.  The Monday flight departs from Daegu at 7:50 am and arrives in Vladivostok at 11:45 am. The flight from Vladivostok to Daegu departs at 12:45 pm and arrives in Daegu at 2:50 pm. The flights on Wednesday and Friday depart from Daegu at 10:35 am and arrive in Vladivostok at 2:35 pm. The flight from Vladivostok to Daegu departs at 3:35 pm and arrives in Daegu at 5:35 pm.

In 2016, 25,233 Russian tourists traveled to Korea for medical purposes, which made Russia the 4th ranked country in terms of number of citizens visiting Korea. Also, the number of Korean citizens visiting Russia for medical purposes increased by 345 percent (291 in 2015 to 1,295 in 2016).

This Daegu-Vladivostok route will create a foundation to promote cultural and material exchange between the two countries. It’s also expected to positively affect other industries such as local economies, medicine, and tourism.
