Starting on June 27th, citizens who impede the progress of any fire-trucks or emergency service vehicles with sirens on, will be subject to a 1 million KRW fine.

In a meeting on October 19th, led by Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon, officials passed the Enforcement Decree of the Framework Act on Fire Protection.

If citizens see a fire-truck with their sirens on they must not block the road, interfere with the truck, or attempt to disrupt its progress in any way. These revised Basic Fire Laws are scheduled to take effect on the 27th. While the original fine for obstruction was 2 million KRW, it has been reduced to 1 million KRW.
