Daegu Health College (DHC / President Dr. Nam, Sung-hee) alumni association, professors, and students from department of occupational therapy raised funds and donated 6 million KRW to help Kim, Dong-gyu (37, class of 2008) whose spouse is suffering from an obstinate disease.
The occupational therapy department alumni association came to know that Kim’s spouse was diagnosed with blood vessel sarcoma with 5 months to live. Kim has been taking leave ever since to take care of his wife and children. The alumni association, professors, and current students at occupational therapy department gave their hearts to help their fellow DHC alumni.
Kim had worked at DHC hospital as an occupational therapist from 2015 to 2018. Kim had been a huge supporter of the department’s curriculum reform, and was a clinical expert with huge contributions to the department. According to DHC, Kim is a trusted member within the department, largely due to his efforts to improve clinical practice trainings based on his rich experience in the field.
Upon receiving donations from his colleagues, Kim said “I deeply appreciate all the support from the alumni association, professors, and juniors at the department. My wife is enduring chemotherapy and she seems to be doing well. I want to see my beloved wife’s recovery and share the good news with all those who helped us.”
Dean of the department, Park, Soo-jeong (37) said “We wish her a quick recovery. I also would like to thank all members of alumni association, seniors, and juniors who took part in helping our colleague in times of difficulty.”
