Daegu Health College (DHC / President Dr. Nam, Sung-hee) education assistance center hosted 「career outlook and study guide – government service in public health field 」at the auxiliary conference room, 9th floor, college main building at 6 pm on 27 September.
Blessed with vice president (management) Kim, Han-soo’s welcoming remarks, the special lecture was provided as part of vocational college innovation assistance project. Director Kwon, Jung-hee of Chilgok county health center introduced the types of tests and professions in the field of public health to her audience – 20 students from DHC.
Director Kwon delineated practical guide to become a government employee and also explained in detail as to how students can prepare for the interviews. Director Kwon also advised the students to study professional knowledge with confidence once they have chosen their career based on their aptitude,
DHC established government service competency program in May in order to nurture government employees in the field of public health. Programs are for students looking for career in public health, nursing, and medical technology, reflecting the demand and diversification of government sector jobs in Korea. 20 students selected for this special program is from various departments; clinical pathology, radiology, physical therapy, dental hygiene, nursing, and public health administration. The selected students are assisted with online lectures in preparation for government service aptitude tests. Students are also provided with lecture rooms and personal reading seats for optimum condition to focus on their studies. Academic advisors are appointed to help students receive counselling and latest information on the tests.
Academic advisor Choi, Seon-young (41 / female / clinical pathology) who hosted the special lecture said “DHC’s special course provides optimum environment for studies, and we efficiently manage our curriculum to assist students get their jobs fast. I will do my best to make DHC the Mecca of government service public health professionals.”
Government employee aptitude tests for health professionals are held in June, and only those with public health certificates are eligible to apply. DHC plans on providing same level of assistance to students even after their graduation.
